Telehealth has made it possible for people to access care from the privacy of their homes, making the decision to seek mental health services less stressful, and the process of opening up and sharing concerns with a new person more comfortable, due to sessions taking place in a familiar, safe environment.
Other benefits include:
Sessions are conducted via Grow Therapy's HIPAA-compliant platform, which also provides secure messaging and communication, and an integrated EHR (electronic health record) to keep your medical records safe and secure.
While I am not faithful to just one of the many approaches to therapy, I do pull from various sources to use what I think will be effective for each client. Some of the most common methods utilized include: Socratic questioning, CBT (reframing/cognitive distortions), ACT (defusion), trauma-informed care, mindfulness exercises, and coping/grounding strategies, among others.
But for me, the therapeutic relationship trumps all, since without a level of trust, no approach will be effective. I choose to spend the time in the beginning phase of treatment really getting to know the client's background, needs, and goals so that I can choose the most appropriate approach for each client.
While experience and education are an absolute necessity to do this work, I believe that my lived experience has had a profound impact on both my ability to build strong therapeutic relationships, and to be a more effective therapist. In terms of strengths, I am unfailingly authentic, resilient, intelligent, self-aware, curious, non-judgmental, and (at least in my personal life) hilarious ;) And by the way, all of those strengths? They were not so much developed as they were uncovered….. through therapy. :)
I am currently in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare, Oscar, Optum, and their subsidiaries. I am currently not accepting clients with Cigna, Humana, Amerihealth, or BCBS. You can confirm your insurance coverage with your insurance company or with the booking department at Grow Therapy. If not using insurance, or if using out-of-network benefits, the session fee is $125 and is due at the time of service.
I know it's confusing! The therapists and prescribers using Grow do not work for them, we are all independent contractors, and considered to be in private practice. Grow simply handles all of the booking, insurance, invoicing, and credenitialing so that we providers can focus on the clients. So, Grow Therapy is the sort of "hub" where all of the business processes occur, and Of Two Minds is the name of my personal private practice.
Sessions are around 50-55 minutes long. Please do your best to join your session on time, since the link will only be open for 10 minutes, after which you will be considered a "no-show" and assessed late cancellation/no-show fee of $62.50 (half the out-of-pocket rate). While emergencies are unavoidable, chronic lateness may result in the termination of treatment.
